Designed by Eero Saarinen, the TWA terminal is both a New York City Landmark and an architectural Masterpiece of the 20th Century. The terminal has been vacant since 2001 and the building is currently being revitalized so that the iconic flight lounge will be revived to serve as the lobby. Additionally, there will be two hotels to house 500 rooms. The two 8-story buildings will form a glassy backdrop to the existing TWA flight center.
The curtain wall was developed as a double skin, closed cavity facade to provide great acoustic separation from the noisy airport environment. The rooms also offer an amazing view of the exiting flight center, a mid century architectural marvel.
