Wood shading interlayer device. A series of laser-cut veneer panels laminated between two panels of glass.
SCREEN is an ongoing research and development project that looks to utilize wood as an interlayer for glass as a shading device. This study incorporates different layers of lasercut veneer (cherry in this case) that is laminated between two panels of glass. Layers upon layers can be slid upon and past each other to achieve the desired opacity and transparency.
The development of a screen system that allows the two materials to work together as a shading device that is digitally adjusted, would be a first attempt of its kind to marry together the two solid materials sustainably.
